1970 Charger RT/SE 392HEMI Restomod
What's one to do when you're 16 and your Dad has a cool 1970 Charger R/T that he won't let you have ?

Well you wait 40 years and you build a replica of it....except this time you're going to do it right !  Watch for this original U code RT/SE to be transformed into a modern dream car....
Gleaming white paint topped off with a black vinyl roof and matching bumble bee stripe....Comfy new black interior finishes it off....but wait...there's more...

Powered by a new crate 392 Hemi direct from Milton Chrysler, and A41 4 speed automatic from Silver Sport Transmissions, riding on RMS front and rear suspension....It's not your Dad's Charger anymore....

With the car stripped, undercoating scrapped off  it's time to let John and his team at Fishburn/Proctor go to town and media blast the shell to bare metal !

No real surprises, so off to Saunder's Customs to get the rust repaired and the body straightened out...

While waiting for primer to dry on the Cuda project, the sparks are flying on the Charger. Digging right in, it's out with the rusty trunk floor, a minor patch on the inner wheel house, clean and prep the rock solid original rails.....drop in the new AMD  floor....NIIIICCCE...

Moving forward, out with the old, in with the new....

With the floor buttoned up, time to move on to those new beautiful quarter panels...looking after the minimal rust in the outer wheel house of course...

Making quick work for all the rust repair, the crew at Saunders Customs waste no time at all...

Well, that's wraps up all the rust repair metal work. Rear bumper fitting perfect with all that new sheet metal in place. Time for the crew to move on to the body work. As you can see, not much to do there....

Body work wrapped up and first coats of primer going on.

Looking straight as an arrow !

As the crew at Saunder's Customs handles the body and paint work, I've been bustin' a move on all the components. The complete front bumper assembly with electric hide away headlights, the finished 8.75 rear end with RMS suspension, and of course a brand new crate 392 Hemi !

Before any painting starts, it's always a good idea to mockup some of the custom items. With the car back at my shop, I was able to custom install the battery and cables, custom brake and gas pedal along with all the A/C components and of course the rad and fan assembly...

Next, add the seam sealer and it's back to the body shop!

With the body work all finished and the first coats of high build primer applied, it's time for the crew at Saunder's Customs to re-assemble the body and start the blocking process...

Parts are looking amazing !

First round of blocking all finished, results would make Robin Hood proud !

Straight as an arrow !

Saunder's Customs applied a beautiful gleaming white paint job with custom painted on stripes under the clear coat, this thing is as smooth as glass....

Completely cut and polished to perfection, Raptor Liner sprayed and it's ready for reassembly. My favorite part.

Big shout out to the crew, they turned out a beautiful job.

Starting out back with the new HOLLEY in-tank fuel pump, the RMS four link rear suspension kit along with Wilwood rear brakes gets the job done.
...but look at those 275/50R17 Nitto NT555 meats ...that's all business...

Lots on Dyna-mat to start, then the fun of putting on all those little details...I like to start at the rear and work forward...Still lots to do.

As you can see, the Dyna-mat now covers the entire floor pans from the tail lights to the windshield, quite a bit if you ask me. Moving on to the front end next...

Engine, transmission, front suspension and brakes all wrapped up. With that beautiful grill smiling right at you...you'll get looks where ever you go.

Finish up the engine install and move to the interior. The dash installed with all the new wiring and a custom steering wheel keeps everything going straight.

Upholstery Wizard Scott Davis came through with the headliner and vinyl top install, followed closely by the back glass and windshield....Thing of absolute beauty. I installed the timeless, artistic looking  interior panels of the 70 Charger. Incredible !

Won't be long now....

                  ALL DONE !!!
